The Out Trekkers are a mixed-age group of fun gay and lesbian people and their friends who go bushwalking every 2 weeks or so, and camping every 2 or 3 months.  Nearly all of our walks are on tracks.   Generally, they are suitable for anyone of good average fitness and endurance.   We vary the speed to suit the walk, but you should have a reasonable standard of fitness appropriate to the particular walk, so read the descriptions in the program.

What to bring:  On trips generally, you need to take:  fully enclosed boots, rain cover, warm top, hat, sunscreen, leech and insect repellent, and bags for rubbish. For day trips, you need to take also:  a daypack, at least 2 litres of water, lunch and snacks. For camps, you need to take also:  a tent, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, pillow, water bottles, cutlery, cup and bowl, sharp knife, matches and lighter, toilet paper and trowel, torch, toiletries, food and fold-up chair.

Going on walks:   Please let the leader know beforehand :  - if you intend coming on a walk, - whether you have transport, and if so, - how many others you could take.

This will allow the leader to plan and will also let you know whether the trip is proceeding as advertised, or whether any details have been changed.

We often carpool  the usual meeting place is near the city in bus stop outside 169 Leichardt Street. This is opposite but on the Fortitude Valley side of the Sportsman’s Hotel in Leichardt Street, Spring Hill.  This bus stop is outside a new building between 189 (the Ridge on Leichardt Hotel) & 153 (Australian Academy of Music). However you must check the particular trip description, and contact the leader as well, to be sure of the meeting arrangements.

Transport costs   Please help the driver with petrol costs -- it's only fair to make a reasonable contribution to a driver, especially if the trip is long.
